What is Job Jumpstart?
Job Jumpstart is a website that provides a one-stop-shop for employment planning and job search information.
Developed by the Department of Employment in consultation with young people, the website offers a range of articles, workbooks and links to help your teen:
- work out what type of jobs might suit them
- understand the personal traits Australian employers look for when hiring
- build their confidence to contact employers directly about jobs
- understand what’s meant by ‘employability’ skills and how to build them
- learn how to access the ‘hidden’ job market.
The Job Jumpstart site also provides recruitment insights from Australian employers and information and links to relevant Government resources, including help with financial planning and budgeting, and information on workplace rights and responsibilities.
Information for parents
The Job Jumpstart website has a Help for advisers page, which offers dedicated information and assistance for parents, career advisers and anyone providing support to a young person thinking about their future career.
Check out the great Toolbox – it provides dozens of printable workbooks that you can work through with your teen to support their employment planning and job search activities.
It’s never too early for your teen to start thinking about career options.
